Offering improved accuracy, the patented AC technology used by the sefiso CUGUARD eliminates the guess work when taking a conductivity measurement. DC devices which never reach equilibrium experience a large inrush current which then slows as polarization voltage builds on the two measurement electrodes. This results in zero flow as charges on the electrodes form an infinite impedance. This means a DC device must guess when the current flow is representative of the fluid’s ability to conduct. Movement of a DC sensor when taking the test will also dramatically affect the result. The AC (patented) technology continuously varies the voltage from one electrode to another, so no polarization occurs which makes the measurement flow insensitive. This allows many measures to be taken over a number of cycles resulting in very high precision.
The MLA 900 has been developed to measure the electrical conductivity and temperature of fuels and light mineral oils in a wide range of applications. Sampling from the roof of a storage tank to laboratories, fuel loading racks and at the wing of an aircraft where intrinsically safe hazardous area regulations apply.
